Center Sustains Extensive Damage Due to the Targeting of a Nearby Residential Building; Operations Temporarily Suspended for Maintenance
On the morning of Sunday, September 7, 2025, the building of the Prosthetics and Paralysis Center – Gaza Municipality sustained severe material damage following an Israeli airstrike that targeted a neighboring residential building. As a result, operations at the Center have been suspended until the completion of urgent maintenance and repair works.
The strike caused significant damage to parts of the infrastructure, operational equipment, and various rooms and sections of the Center, preventing the continuation of vital humanitarian services for amputees and paralysis patients who rely on prosthetic limbs and assistive devices to regain mobility and live with dignity. Specialized teams are currently assessing the extent of the damage and losses affecting the building, equipment, and devices.
The continued targeting of civilian and residential buildings constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, which requires the protection of civilian, medical, and humanitarian facilities, and prohibits exposing them to danger particularly those providing care for the war-wounded and humanitarian services for persons with disabilities.
We call for an immediate halt to the aggression against the Gaza Strip, an end to the targeting of civilian, medical, and infrastructure facilities, and for safeguarding the Center’s operations by ensuring the provision of necessary materials and equipment. This will allow the Center to continue assisting amputees and persons with mobility impairments and to sustain its humanitarian mission.
Accordingly, the Prosthetics and Paralysis Center calls on the international community, as well as human rights and humanitarian organizations, to take immediate action to pressure the Israeli occupation to cease targeting humanitarian facilities in the Gaza Strip and to guarantee the continued delivery of essential services to the wide segment of patients and wounded who are in dire need.
